Zoo Cleaning Case Study - Parc de la Boissière

In this video testimonial, Monsieur Sébastien Laurent, the director of a popular zoological park in the Brittany region of France called Le Parc de la Boissière, explains how the Thermatech has proven an invaluable tool in the maintenance of the park.

Le Parc de la Boissière a toujours été réputé pour sa propreté. Et aujourd’hui, ça c’est vraiment un élément pour nous qui est primordial. Il y a le bien-être des animaux mais il y a aussi évidemment la propreté de leur endroit, la propreté des lieux de visite est importante pour les visiteurs. C’est un tout. Le cadre végétal aussi est important. Le cadre végétal nous apporte aussi beaucoup de vert là où il ne faut pas, c’est tout l’intérêt de la Thermatech d’être en harmonie avec la propreté que nous on demande pour tout le parc.

The zoological park (or Zoo) at La Boissière du Doré in South Britany in France (between Nantes and Ancenis) has always been reputed for its cleanliness. And today, that is really a factor that is of paramount importance for us. There is the wellbeing of the animals to consider, but there is also of course the cleanliness of their locality; the cleanness of the places to visit is also important for our visitors. It’s a complete picture. The plant-life setting is important too. but the vegetative surroundings also bring us a lot of green growth where there mustn’t be any. The whole appeal of the ThermaTech consists in it being in harmony with the cleanliness we demand for the whole park.

Nous on a beaucoup de choses en bois ici, et on peut enlever la saleté facilement avec la température de l’eau, mais sans attaquer fortement le bois en mettant une basse pression, et ça, c’est vraiment très très appréciable.

We have a lot of things made of wood here, and using the ThermaTech we can remove dirt from them easily thanks to the temperature of the water, but without sorely attacking the wood, by applying a low water pressure, and the difference is really very clearly visible.

Avec un nettoyeur haute pression normal en fait on enlève le vert du bois, mais en fait c’est un cercle vicieux puisque on rend le bois aussi beaucoup plus poreux, et en fait la saleté revient et les algues reviennent encore plus vite.

With a normal high-pressure cleaner, in point of fact you take away the green growth from the wood, but it’s actually a vicious circle since you also make the wood more porous, and the dirt and the algae actually come back again still faster.

L’avantage de Thermatech c’est non seulement que l’on n’abîme pas le bois, mais en plus par la chaleur, le vert, les algues, les mousses sont tués directement, donc forcément ça revient beaucoup moins vite derrière.

The advantage of the ThermaTech is not only that we don’t damage the wood, but also that, by the application of heat, the green growth, the algae and mosses are directly killed, therefore they necessarily come back much less quickly afterwards.

Il est évident que les endroits où on est passé là en fin d’hiver faire du gros nettoyage, on est tellement revenu à presque l’aspect d’origine, que l’hiver prochain, je pense qu’on n’aura pas besoin même de refaire certaines choses.

It is obvious that in the spots that we have gone over at the end of the winter to do some major cleaning, we have brought them back almost to their original appearance, to the extent that next winter, I don’t think we will even need to redo certain tasks.

Et on utilise la ThermaTech aussi sur les bétons, hein, sur les quelques murs, les murs des orang-outangs, les bassins notamment aussi. La structure ou les parois des bassins noircisse là, on arrive beaucoup plus facilement à avoir quelque chose de nickel.

And we also use the ThermaTech on concrete, on the few walls, such as the walls around the enclosure of the orangutans, and notably also on the pools. The structures or the interior walls of the pools blacken, and there we much more easily achieve a result very clean.

Donc l’avantage aussi de la ThermaTech c’est qu’elle est sans produit chimique, nous ici on utilise aucun produit chimique sur tout le parc, donc c’est bien pour la nature mais c’est aussi bien pour l’opérateur qui évidemment ne respire rien de mal.

So another advantage of the ThemaTech is that it is chemical-free : here, we don’t use any chemicals anywhere in the park, so it’s good for nature but also for the operator of the machine, who obviously doesn’t breathe in anything bad.

La différence elle est dans le résultat. Quand on a commencé quelque part c’est un peu addictif. On voit très bien où on s’est arrêté le soir pour reprendre le lendemain matin, et c’est vraiment hyper-encourageant de voir immédiatement un résultat qui est joli, et depuis qu’on y a gouté c’est le jour et la nuit.

The difference also lies in the results. When we have started cleaning somewhere [with the ThermaTech], it’s a bit addictive. We see very clearly where we stopped in the evening to take it up again the following day, and it’s really extremely encouraging to immediately see an attractive result, and once we’ve sampled that, it’s like night and day.
